President: Jasmin

Jasmin enjoys the freedom of making musical decisions about the score. A major highlight of her piano studies was attending the 2023 Amalfi Coast Arts Festival.

Vice President: Astrid

Hey, I'm Astrid. I use the piano to uncover the emotions people feel but don't have the words for. While practising, I enjoy the physical process of shaping the sound that comes out from the hammers. My favourite food is cold soba (controversial, I know) and I am a big fan of Chopin and Liszt.

Astrid is serving as the current President of the University of Sydney Piano Society for the 2026 year.

Marketing Director: Julie

I'm interested in all types of music. I think it is sad that classical music’s impact on the general population is very minimal compared to the impact of the rich history and effort of modern, popular creators of music. As a somewhat-regular listener of the deteriorating “breakcore” genre on soundcloud (made by people who definitely did not do any research on its stylistic history, and who only listen to Sewerslvt and her duplicates), I think its a shame that classical music and breakcore get about the same public attention. Thus, I am hoping to spread the classical music vibe as the marketing director of the Counterpoint Project. My pet peeve is when people play their tiktoks out loud on public transport, oblivious to the people around them.

I'm here because I want to help expose underrated classical music to the public more. An AMEB grade 8 pianist who plays piano as a hobby. An omnivore that listens to any music but rock and metal. Crazy about looping playlists, mixes and suites for hours but can never recognise the names of the music. Currently has a soft spot for Ghibli Studio.

Treasurer: Annie

Hi, I am Annie. Growing up, I played both the piano and the flute, was part of many bands and wind symphony orchestras throughout primary and high school. I also have experience as a voluntary flautist in my high school as part of the orchestra for the Into the Woods musical, and I've performed at multiple school congregation events. Personally, I am passionate about spreading my appreciation of classical music to our younger generation, and I hope to inspire individuals to pursue music as a hobby.
